Join us for mindful yoga

I teach themed and mindful yoga classes. The Monday evening class at St Andrews Centre helps you to start your week off right - it’s guaranteed to help you take that deeper breath, ease your mind, energise and de-stress.

The Wednesday morning class is really restorative, with gentle restful poses and lots of relaxation.

I have a theme for each class which is based on a part of the ancient yoga philosophy, which I love. Yoga is a way of life, not just a physical practice, and the wisdom of the yoga teachings can be life-changing and transformative.

What I love about yoga philosophy is that it encourages us to be the best version of ourselves that we can possible be, and at the same time to totally accept ourself just as we are, and to cultivate self acceptance and self compassion which is so necessary if we are to find contentment in life.

On Monday evenings, the style of yoga is Vinyasa Flow which flows dynamically with the breath. The class is a little different each week, sometimes we work towards a particular pose, sometimes we might focus on an aspect of the practice such as hip opening or core strength.

I like to hold poses for a few breaths, so we don’t rush through the poses, allowing time to really feel in to each pose, to connect to the breath and calm the mind.  I like to use affirmations each week, to help us really connect in to the theme that week.

In winter, the class is candle-lit, which really brings a magical and special feel to the class.

On Wednesday mornings, the style of yoga is gentle and meditative, mostly mat based stretches and mindful, grounding, calming movement with emphasis on relaxation and breathwork. A moving meditation to support rest and digest, suitable for everyone.

FAQs

How much do classes cost?

We offer drop in for £12.50, please book on the timetable, alternatively you can buy a bundle of classes, 4 for £42 or an unlimited monthly pass for £65 to use across Pilates and Yoga classes.

I’m new to yoga, can I join a class?

My Wednesday morning yoga class is suitable for anyone, and I’d recommend you join that if you’re new to yoga. You might also like my mindful Friday morning gentle pilates and stretch.

I welcome anyone to our Monday night classes, however please be aware these classes are dynamic in their format so require a need to be able to get up and down from the mat several times throughout the class, however variations are always introduced and encouraged.

Do I need to bring a mat or props?

Ideally bring a mat, however I always have a few spare. I provide any other equipment you may need such as a strap, blocks, or blankets. You might like to bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothing. I recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the start of class so you can ensure you get your props and mat ready for a relaxed start of class.

Can I cancel a class?

If you’ve purchased a drop in class we offer transfer only up to 4 hours before the start of class. If you have a bundle pass, you can cancel and it will go onto your allocation, we ask you do this 4 hours before the start of class.
