Exploring Ahimsa and self compassion…treating yourself as you would your best friend…

Exploring Ahimsa in yoga this week - the first Yoga Yama - non-harming. Focusing especially on how we harm ourself when we don’t offer self compassion to ourself.

I always think it’s impossible to eradicate the inner critic, and the negative thoughts that pop up in our head about our body and ourselves - but what we can do is become aware of them, and for each negative thought, match it with a feeling of gratitude and send ourself some Ahimsic self compassionate love.

Offering ourself self compassion and self forgiveness means we then have the capacity to forgive others - it feels to me like without applying it first and foremost to ourself, how is it possible to send that energy out?
